24-Hour Supervision

All our summer programme students are supervised around the clock and are usually accompanied by our deans, lecturers, and tutors. During outdoor activities (such as educational excursions), the students are divided into smaller groups and accompanied by trained and specialist staff members.

Safeguarding Lead

At The Oxford Institute Summer Programme, we have a designated Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) present at all times. The DSL is appropriately trained in line with UK safeguarding regulations and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of student welfare and child protection.

Their role includes:

Ensuring compliance with UK safeguarding legislation and best practices
Acting as the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns
Promoting the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of all students
Liaising with external agencies, when necessary, in the event of a serious concern
Ensuring all staff are aware of and follow safeguarding procedures

The safety and welfare of our students is our highest priority, and our safeguarding policies reflect the standards set out in “Keeping Children Safe in Education” and other relevant UK legislation.

Our deans remain available at student accommodations at all times to provide support and ensure the welfare of the participants.

Emergency Medical Care

In the event of any medical emergency, we ensure immediate medical assistance. NHS emergency medical care is available, and we will arrange for any necessary treatments. However, we strongly recommend that participants take out comprehensive medical insurance to cover any medical care that may not be covered by the NHS, depending on the visa category.

Emergency Preparedness

We conduct regular fire drills and adhere to safety measures set by the University of Oxford. We make sure that all our staff and students are familiar with emergency evacuation procedures to ensure everyone’s safety during unforeseen situations.
